Rose Nesbitt prepares for Badminton Horse Trials 2022

Supported rider, Rose Nesbitt, tells us about her horses and preparing for her first ever 5* event at Badminton Horse Trials 2022

I’m Rose, a 24-year-old event rider and young horse producer. I have been involved with horses all my life and, after completing my degree course, I am now focussing fully on horses.

My top horse, EG Michaelangelo (known as ‘Jack’ at home), is an 11 year old Irish Sports Horse who I’ve had since he was a 5 year old and produced him myself. As well as competing Jack, I thoroughly enjoy producing quality young horses and am lucky enough to have four exciting and promising 4 and 5 year olds. They have started their education and hopefully will get out to their first events later this summer to follow in Jack’s footsteps.

Jack and I are heading to our first 5* at Badminton Horse Trials in just a couple of weeks’ time which is so exciting! We have a fantastic partnership which is made even more special having had him from the beginning of his career. He had a great season last year, finishing 7th in the U25 Championships at Bicton 4* Long. He also went double clear at Blenheim 4* Long finishing just outside the top 20 and gaining our 5* qualification. We had our last run in preparation for Badminton at Weston Park where we finished 4th in the Advanced, I was really delighted with how he felt.

Jack is fed on Soothe & Gain and Power & Performance. He’s been weighed and his feeding programme has been closely monitored to ensure he is getting exactly what he needs. I’m hugely grateful to Allen & Page for their advice and support which has been hugely beneficial in the run up to our first 5* event.

All roads now lead to Badminton … fingers crossed the next couple of weeks go smoothly!
