Meet the team
Sarah manages the award-winning Allen & Page Nutritional Helpline, overseeing an excellent team of Nutritionists.
Having loved horses from an early age, it was natural for Sarah to study them, gaining a BSc (Hons) and a PGCert in Equine Science. As part of her dissertation, Sarah studied the effects of Hippotherapy on the range of motion in disabled children’s joints, earning the BETA Eqvalan Thesis of the Year Award.
Sarah has over seven years of experience in the nutrition industry, having previously worked on helplines and with race yards and studs in Newmarket. Her favourite part of the job is helping owners with their horses, especially complicated cases, and developing exciting new feeds that will benefit both horses and owners.
In her spare time, Sarah hacks around the local woods with her Irish Cob, Lottie, and spends time with her family and two greyhounds.
Sarah Day is an Equine and Animal Nutritionist and Lab Manager at Allen & Page with 10 years of experience providing feeding recommendations to horse owners. She gained her BSc (Hons) in Bio veterinary Science from the University of Lincoln. After this she decided to further her studies by gaining an MSc in Animal Science from Aberystwyth University, where she was part of a research project looking into the potential of feeding lupin seeds to laying hens. After recently having a baby boy Sarah spends her spare time with family.
Emily has been at Allen & Page as an Equine Nutritionist since late 2020, after graduating from Aberystwyth University with a BSc in Equine Science. Emily loves talking to customers and hearing the stories of their animals, helping them find the best feed for their horse or pony, or chicken or goat. Occasionally other animals like emus! Emily has been passionate about horses since she was 8 years old and got her first horse Sinbad in 2014. In her spare time, Emily make sure he doesn’t get into too much mischief in his retirement and enjoys exploring the Norfolk countryside with her greyhound Figgy.
Horses and ponies became an obsession for Sarah at an early age and she has had horses in her life ever since. Before starting at Allen & Page, Sarah had a background in animal welfare as she worked at a horse sanctuary for 17 years. As a senior team member, Sarah helped with the day-to-day checking, medicating, training and feeding of a vast range of rescue horses, ponies and donkeys. Due to their welfare being paramount Sarah learnt about how to manage veterinary conditions as well as the importance of the correct diet. During this time, Sarah discovered a huge passion for donkeys especially. When she joined Allen & Page, she found the transition relatively easy to make as nutrition plays a huge role in equine welfare. Sarah says the best part of her job is talking to people about their horses and ponies and helping them find the most suitable diet, but always gets super excited when she gets to talk to people after feeding advice for their donkeys.
Eloise is the newest addition to the nutrition team at Allen & Page. She has had her own horses for many years and has a BSc in Equine Behavioural Science from Writtle University College. Prior to joining Allen & Page, Eloise has worked in multiple practical roles in the equine industry and in livestock farming, having spent years rehabilitating rescue horses and most recently calf rearing. Eloise has four horses of her own, including a Miniature Shetland!
Equines have always played a huge part in Karens life, since her grandad let her have her first ride on a donkey on holiday as a little girl and she hasn’t looked back since! Having specialised in equine nutrition during her degree, Karen knew this was the field she wanted to work in. Karen went on to work for two equine sporting governing bodies which made her realise how important equine nutrition is and only added fuel to the fire of wanting to work in equine nutrition. Karen is particularly passionate about ex-racehorses having volunteered for Retraining of Racehorses for nine years and says “know how rewarding these horses can be in their second careers. I have owned horses for 25 years and currently have a 22-year-old ex-racehorse mare, fed Muscle & Focus, who I enjoy doing riding club level activities and hacking with – she is definitely the main member of the family!” I have worked for Allen & Page for Seven years, Karens favourite part of the role is helping owners to provide the best nutritional care for their horses and ponies, even when this involves thinking outside of the box.

Patrick started working with horses during school holidays in a hunt yard before moved to a showjumping yard and then started to ride out at a local racehorse trainers’ yard. Having left university, he worked for four and a half years as an assistant trainer to Mr B Patton who had a small string of National Hunt horses in Ireland. Patrick rode as an amateur jockey over Hurdles and on the Flat and broke two vertebra while riding a novice in a hurdle race. On moving to England, Patrick rode out for Mr B Haigh for over twenty-five years and “rode some bad horses in Point to Points”!
Patrick started in the feed business fifty-one years ago working for Pegus Horse feeds which were made under licence by RHM Agriculture at Hull, the mill has long gone and is now the home of The Hull Cartridge Company.
Patrick has worked with Allen and Page feeds for nearly thirty years and says “it has been a wonderful experience to see them develop from a regional horse feed manufacturer to the force they are today in the equine feed market”.
Liz has been in the feed industry for thirty years and is currently self-employed. Liz has worked for Allen and Page since 2002 and says “I love my job and thoroughly enjoy being able to help horse owners with their horses”
Nigel grew up in the Cotswolds and spending many years playing outside in the countryside. Nigel studied at Warwickshire College of Agriculture for three years. Post College, he worked on a large farming estate in before returning to the UK in 1987 to start a career in the British pig industry. Nigel managed a large Nucleus pig breeding herd in Northamptonshire, before taking up a role as Pig Specialist for a Wiltshire based feed manufacturing company in the West Country. Following the devastating outbreak of Foot & Mouth in the late 1990’s and the subsequent reduction of the UK pig herd, Nigel took the opportunity to retrain to concentrate on pet and equine nutrition and remained in this role for twenty-one very happy years.
In 2016, Nigel moved to a Dorset based animal health business. He was primarily involved with the launch and promotion of a new range of animal health products for the pet & equine industry with the initial focus being the launch of a highly effective joint supplement for dogs. This role took Nigel all over the world. The Covid pandemic meant Nigel was furloughed for a significant time. However, as somebody who likes a challenge and with the much-appreciated support of the animal health company, Nigel took the opportunity to move to a Self-Employed status in 2021. Nigel now works as a Freelance representative, agent and sales consultant.
Nigel currently works for the same Dorset based animal health company, two pet wholesale businesses and very proudly as the Sales Agent for Allen & Page Animal Feeds looking after Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. Nigel has a lot of great feed stockists that he looks after in The South West and really enjoys meeting and advising horse owners on equine feeding during the Weighbridge/Yard visit service offered by Allen & Page. Nigel has three wonderful grown-up children with his youngest still at home with him whilst he studies for a Law Degree. When Nigel can prise himself away from work, he loves spending time with his young Black Lab “Pip” who adores walks on the beach and swimming in the sea. She is still quite young, but is doing really well with her gundog training. Nigels photo actually features his previous working Lab “Jet”, who was a wonderful working gundog right up to the age of fifteen years.
Allen & Page was established as a limited company in 1936, but the Page family had been producing and selling horse feeds for many years. Originally based at the mill at Quayside, Norwich, the company quickly became renowned across East Anglia for the high-quality feed it produced.
